CSA Congressman, Confederate Army Officer. Prior to the Civil War, he served as a member of the Alabama State legislature in 1851 and as a delegate to Alabama secession convention in 1861. He was then elected to represent Alabama in the Confederate Provisional Congress, serving from 1861 to 1862. served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He also served in the Confederate Army as the Lieutenant Colonel of the 19th Alabama Infantry Regiment.
