Roy Robert Black, 81, of 7828 Moorefield Memorial Highway, husband of Capitola McAlister Black, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Countryside Village in Easley.

Mr. Black was born in Liberty, a son of the late John and Bertie McAlister Black. He graduated from Liberty High School and was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church. He was retired from Platt Saco Lowell, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served overseas in England and Scotland.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Roger Benjamin of Liberty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Vivian Black, and Don and Sue Black, all of Easley; one sister, Ruth Lollis of Belton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Black was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Albert, Ethredge and J.D. Black; and two sisters, Gladys Crenshaw and Mae Owens.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 9, 2001, at 2:30 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. Clark Ford. Burial will be held in Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 207, Liberty, SC 29657, or Vista Care Hospice, 4006 E. North St., Greenville, SC 29615.

The family is at the home of Roger and Susan Benjamin, 7850 Moorefield Memorial Highway, Liberty, SC 29657. Liberty Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
