Wife of Robert Adams, Sr. (abt.1770-1844). Mother of thirteen children (including one son who died at sea on the trip from Ireland to Philadelphia and three daughters who were also born in Ireland). Daughter of James Shortle of Ireland and sister of Esther (Shortle) Hood (who is also in this cemetery). Mary was married to Robert Adams in Ireland and they came to the US in 1800 on a ship named "Rachel." They settled in Greenwood, Crawford County, Pennsylvania in 1802. Mary's first son in the US was named James (after her son that died on the voyage to the US) and her first daughter was named Esther (like her sister). Her husband, Robert, was born in County Tyrone, Ireland. Robert was a soldier in the War of 1812 in Pennsylvania.
