Virginia I. "Ginger" Kuntz, 68, of 2621 Lobo Lane, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque, of natural causes.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 4 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1942, in Dubuque, daughter of Oliver D. and Ethel L. (Taylor) Manahl. She attended Nativity School and graduated from the Visitation Academy in 1961.

She married Gerald W. Kuntz on April 27, 1963, at Nativity Catholic Church.
Ginger worked as a receptionist for Dr. Gene Hoffmann's dentist's office until she started her family. She was a full-time wife and mother until their children were grown.

Ginger enjoyed playing bingo twice per week and going to the "dog track" and the Diamond Jo to spend a few dollars. She also enjoyed spending time walking and shopping with her sisters. She bowled and played volleyball for many years. She was regularly in attendance for many of the grandchildren's sporting events.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Jerry Kuntz, of Dubuque; four daughters, Laura (John) Riedl, of Dubuque, Sandy (Tony) Jaynes, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Christy (Gus) Estrano, of Surprise, Ariz., and Kelli (Joe Lounds) Kuntz, of Avondale, Ariz.; a son, Mark Kuntz, of Bettendorf, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tim, Dan and Taylor Riedl, Jake and Ali Jaynes and Jaelyn and Mikaela Estrano; five sisters, Mary Lou (George) Wood, of Birchwood, Wis., Rita (James) Weber, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Betsy Manahl, of Dubuque, Jan (Moe) Blum, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Joyce (Dennis) Wiltfang, of Dubuque; and a brother, Ed (Betty Jo) Manahl, of Pedricktown, N.J.

She was preceded in death a son, Jeff, in infancy; a sister, Dolores Jean Bridges(FAG# 408648); and two brothers, Roger David (FAG#16798288) and Robert Paul (infant) (FAG#16798376) Manahl.

The family requests no flowers. A Virginia I. "Ginger" Kuntz Memorial Fund has been established.
