O'Hare, a St. Louis lawyer, moved to Chicago and became a partner with Al Capone in the dog-racing business. Wanting to get his son Edward into the Annapolis Naval Academy, O'Hare agreed to inform on Capone. O'Hare was gunned down on the streets of Chicago, and the man who ordered his murder married his fiancée several months later. O'Hare's son was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1942. Chicago's O'Hare airport is named for Edward "Butch" O'Hare.
