MARQUETTE - Cecilia Marie Armiga, 94, of Marquette, and former Harvey resident, entered eternal life Saturday evening, January 8, 2011, at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Born September 11, 1916 in Marquette, a daughter of Peter and Mary (Chartier) Montcalm, Cecilia was raised in Marquette. She was employed for over 21 years as a housekeeper-custodian at Northern Michigan University. She was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey and enjoyed reading, crocheting, craft stitching, and playing cards.
Survivors include a daughter, Carla Brown of Marquette; son, Thomas Armiga of Marquette; grandchildren, Beverly Smith of Marquette, Patricia Gumbert of Appleton, WI, and Raymond Armiga of Marquette; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Williams, Erick, Thomas, and Damon Gumbert; her sister, Julia Montcalm of Marquette; brothers-in-law, Loren Thiede and Clement "Bud" Bastien both of Green Bay, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel V. "Mike" Armiga; a daughter, Louise M. Smith in 1995; sisters, Elaine Thiede and Margaret Bastien; sisters and brothers-in-law, Adrienne and Clarence Bigger, Valerie and Donald Quayle; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Faye Montcalm.
Friends may call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey on Wednesday, January 12 beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Wednesday with Rev. Ben Paris, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
