The citizens of Monrovia were sincerely grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Lucinda Uhl, wife of the late Rev. William Uhl and mother of E. C. Uhl and Mrs. J. H. W. Bennett of this city which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Z. D. Mathuss, in Los Angeles, at 11 o'clock the evening of October 31, aged 80 years and 7 months. The funeral services were held from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mathuss, and interrment made in Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles. The deceased was well known in Monrovia for her goodness of heart and christian faith.
Jonathan Uhl received a dispatch last Thursday night, announcing the death of his mother at Los Angeles, Oct 31. She died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Z. T. Matthuss, at Monrovia, a surburb of Los Angeles. All the children except Jonathan were present at the death-bed. She was 80 years old and was until a few months ago was quite active and well. Her death was the general breaking down of old age. She was a very lovable old lady and will be happily remembered by many who knew her here. The remains were laid to rest beside those of her husband, Rev. Wm. Uhl, who died some two years ago.
