- MCLEAN,VIRGINIA -- Francis X. Farrell, formerly of Mount Savage, Md., and Cumberland, Md., succumbed on Friday, May 7, 1999, after a sudden massive heart attack at the age of 79.

The son of the late Rosella and John D. Farrell of Mount Savage, Mr. Farrell resided in McLean in Northern Virginia for most of his life, working for the federal government after discharge from the 78th Army Infantry Division after World War II.

The husband of Trieste V. Bibbiani of Chester, Conn., who died in 1978, Mr. Farrell is survived by his four children, Judith Ann Bechtol, John Andrew Farrell, Kathleen Marie Hershner and James Gregory Farrell; brother of James Farrell, Midland, Md., and Jeanette Kirby, Port Republic, Md. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; as well as 35 nephews and nieces, mainly from the Cumberland area.

Mr. Farrell was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call at the Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Va., on Tuesday, May 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Catholic Church, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean, Va., on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Columbia Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Parkinson Association, 20202 Hamaker Court, Fairfax, VA 22031.
