Elsie C. Anderson, 93, of Bear River, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing. She was born Elsie Caroline Swanson in Bear River on July 17, 1914, to Adolph and Johanna (Johnson) Swanson.

She grew up and lived in Bear River all of her life, except for the time away to complete High School in Grand Rapids, then graduating from Bemidji Teacher's College. She was a substitute teacher for a time.

She was united in marriage to Glenn Anderson in Bear River on October 18, 1941. Elsie was very active in her faith and church, and was a lifelong member of Bear River Lutheran, and a dedicated member of its Ladies Aid.. The church is 100 years old and she was there for nearly 94 of them. She was known for her gracious hospitality and only saw the good in people.

She was a talented artist who loved painting and ceramics. She had a keen interest in keeping up with the times, was especially well read and knowledgeable in the latest medical advances and loved reading medical articles. She enjoyed and took interest in the activities and endeavors of her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; brothers, Walter and Douglas Swanson; sister, Esther Carpenter; and her parents.

Interment was in the Morcom Twp Cemetery.
