Elvera passed away on December 23, 2010 with her husband Bruce and children Marissa and Evan by her side.

A devoted wife of forty-six years and loving mother, she is also survived by her sister Janice Reeve and leaves behind many friends whom she cherished.

Elvera Clara Steiner was born to loving Swedish parents Nils and Clara in St. Helena, California. Her family moved to San Francisco, where she graduated from Lincoln High School, followed by the University of Pacific, where she earned a degree in English Literature.

After her marriage in 1964, Elvera taught English at Mills High School until the birth of her first child, Kerstin Alicia. Kerstin preceded her in death in December 1977.

Her family resided in Burlingame, San Mateo, and Hillsborough until 1995 when they moved to Sonoma, where she thrived until her passing. She is remembered for having the voice of an angel, a gracious, generous, and thoughtful nature, an ability to nurture and sustain a friendship through decades and for her courage and faith throughout a more than four-year battle with cancer. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and is dearly missed by many.

A memorial service of faith and song will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the Episcopal Church of St. Matthew, One South El Camino Real, San Mateo, CA.
Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Cypress Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma, CA.
