ALVES, Leonard "Lenny" 82 years of age, of Weymouth, entered Life Eternal unexpectedly January 4, 2011 at his home in Weymouth. He was the husband of the late Claire R. (Patenaude) Alves who died in 2006. Leonard is the devoted father of four children: Linda Keough married to Thomas Keough of Braintree, Claire Diane Jameson married to William Jameson of Newport, Vermont, John J. Alves married to Kathleen Alves of Sandwich and Pamela Phelan married to David Phelan of Halifax. He was the father of the late Sherrie MacEwan who is survived by her son Michael MacEwan. He is survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Leonard was the brother of the late Charles, Gordon and Robert Alves. He is survived by his sister Mary MacEwan of Florida and by his sister-in-law Barbara Alves of Sacramento, CA. Visiting hours will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, BRAINTREE, on Friday, January 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be a gathering at the funeral home on Saturday, January 8th at 8:00 A.M. to be followed by a Funeral Mass in the Church of Saint Thomas More, Elm Street and Hawthorn Road, Braintree at 9:00 A.M. The Reverend Father James McCarthy pastor of the Church will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Thomas More Parish, 8 Hawthorn Road, Braintree, MA. 02184. Leonard was associated with the family firm Alves Photo Service in Braintree. He was a W.W. II Marine Corps veteran who served in China. He became a member of the "China Marines" and yearly attended their reunions.
