Born in Jonesport, Maine on Feb. 23, 1906, she moved to Independence, Mo., at the age of 14. She attended area schools including Kansas City High School. She continued her education at Business College and Keester College of Tailoring and Design. She served in the United States Army during World War II. She served her first two years in the United States as an instructor of basic training and physical education and her last two years she served in Yokohama, Japan as an administrative assistant in the office of the Command General of the 8th Army.
Surviving are one step-daughter and step-son, Carol Bredda of Wells and Leland W. Bickford of Gardner, Maine; 12 grandchildren but most especially Donna Gibbs of Danvers, Carol Corbelle of Byfield, Mary Porcaro of Woburn; many great-grandchildren; one nephew; and three nieces. She was also the grandmother of the late David J. Porcaro Jr.
A graveside service was held Wednesday at the Spring Street Cemetery.
