KELSO, Wash. – Graveside services for former longtime Thompson Falls resident Avy Calvin McCracken, 93, of Kelso, Wash., were conducted Tuesday, May 2, in Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens at Kelso with the Rev. Mike Neal officiating.
Mr. McCracken died April 29, 1995, at a Kelso nursing home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1901, at Waverly, Wash., to Charles and Hannah (Dawson) McCracken.
While residing at Thompson Falls during the fifties and sixties, Avy worked as a timber buyer for Browns' Mill (now Crown Pacific Inland) and for the U.S. Forest Service. He moved with his wife, Laverna, to the Kelso area in 1975.
He was a member of the IOOF Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerna McCracken, of the family home in Kelso, Wash.; two sons, Walter McCracken, Longview, Wash.; and Robert Holmes and wife, Bev, of Murtaugh, Idaho; three daughters, Sandy Hoppen and husband Wayne, of Kelso; MonaLu Gould and husband, George, Thompson Falls; and Sherry McCullough, Spanaway, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles McCracken, in 1968.
Columbia Funeral Services of Kelso was in charge of arrangements.
