Was Native of Indian Territory
Harry O. Abbott, 83 years old and for the past 26 years engaged in farming in the Brentwood area, died at his home in that communitry at 3 o'clock this morning after a week's illness.
Born in the Cherokee Indian territory, Fairmont Mission, in 1861, he came to California in 1884 and to the Brentwood section in 1918 where he emerged in both farming and fruit raising. Although blind for the past 15 years, Mr. Abbott was able to carry on many activities about his home and was in good health until a week ago.
He was preceeded in death by his wife who died in October of last year. Surviving him are two sons, Fred R. Abbott and Carl S. Abbott, both of Brentwood; a sister, Mae H. Abbott of Pasadena and a brother Frank L. Abbott of Grass Valley.
Two grandsons, both in the service, Lieutenant Fred. I Abbott, now is China, and Pvt. Leslie K. Abbott, in Texas, as well as two granddaughters, Mrs. Jane A. Curlee, Mather Field, Sacramento, and Mary Jean Abbott, of Brentwood, also survive him.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at Shaffer's Funeral parlors and interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
