Kathleen (Shea) Burns, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Friday (December 31, 2010) in the comfort of her home.

She was born September 3, 1941 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Sophie (Ligenza) Shea, and was a lifelong resident of Enfield.

Kathleen was a graduate of Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Enfield. Later in life, she pursued her Associates Degree from Asnuntuck Community College and had the joy of graduating with her daughter.

Prior to retiring in 2008, Kathleen was employed for over twenty years with The Spencer Turbine Inc. in Windsor. Prior to Spencer, Kathleen spent many years at Smyth's Dairy Bar of Enfield.

She was an avid golfer and walker and enjoyed reading. Kathleen loved spending time with her family and friends and was always unselfishly giving of her time to help others. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, Enfield.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved son John F. "Jack" Burns, her loving daughter Brenda A. Burns, both of Enfield; her cherished granddaughters Danielle and Samantha; and great-granddaughter Olivia Olden. She is also survived by two aunts Bertha Ligenza and Stacia Zawada both of Enfield, many dear cousins and friends, along with her three beloved cats and family dog.

Relatives and friends may gather with Kathleen's family during calling hours on Monday (January 3, 2011) from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday (January 4, 2011) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home and then to St. Patrick's Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
