Draxie Irene Wright, age 89, of Jenkins, Kentucky passed away Friday, December 31, 2010, at her home.
Draxie was born April 7, 1921 in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late John L. and Mary Little Anderson.
In addition to her parents Draxie is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wright, one son Steven Wright, one brother, Burl Anderson, six sisters, Lacy Blackburn, Lillie Wilson, Della Whitaker, Nellie Gibson, June Tackett and Beulah Keeton.
Draxie is survived by one son, Gary Sowards of Paintsville, Kentucky, three daughters, Eddie and Kay Charles of Pikeville, Kentucky, Teresa Ann Branham of Elkhorn City, Kentucky and Brenda Sue Wright of Robinson Creek, Kentucky, one sister Charlcia Anderson of Dorton, Kentucky, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, from the Glory Bound Freewill Baptist Church at Ashcamp, Kentucky, with Homer Lee Mullins and Randy Standifur, ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery at Forest Hills, Kentucky.
Friends may call at the church after 6 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011, and all day Monday, January 3, 2011, and anytime prior to funeral services Tuesday.
