Emery Jay Arnold, 92, died March 3 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Funeral services were held March 5,1:30 p.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. B.J. Ukena officiated. Music was by Mr. and Mrs. Monte Cue.
Burial was in the, Quasqueton Cemetery. Casket bearers were Arlie Sauer, Paul W. Blank, Don Butler, Carl Kress, Dr. James Sloan and William G. Klotzbach.
Arnold was born Nov. 29, 1890 near Walker, the son of Jacob and Josephine Uthe Arnold. He graduated from Walker High School in 1908, and from Kings College of Business in Cedar Rapids.
He married Mabel Zimpfer Nov. 29,1916 in Dubuque. She died in 1940. He then married Olga Nielsen Chesmore on Aug. 6, 1954 at Quasqueton.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, and had retired from farming ln'1955. He moved to Independence in 1966,
Survivors include his wife, Olga; one son, Carl, Walker; one brother, Herbert Arnold, Walker; two stepsons, Kenneth Chesmore, Independence, and Kermit Chesmore, Rowley; four step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son, James; and one sister, Clara.
The White Funeral Home in Independence was in charge of arrangements.
