Mrs. Vonice Diane Blalock Jackson, 55 of Mershon, passed away Wednesday afternoon (December 29, 2010) at the Orange Park Medical Center following a sudden illness.
A native of Pierce County, Mrs. Jackson had lived in Nicholls for many years before moving back to Mershon in 2002. She was a very loving and caring person always putting others first. Mrs. Jackson enjoyed needle work, crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a caregiver and homemaker, and was a member of Bristol Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Lavonne Blalock and her husband, Ronald Andrew Jackson.
Survivors include two children, Dana Melisa Blalock Oliver (husband Thomas) of Hoboken and Donald Andrew Jackson of Waycross; her mother, Clara Mae Chancey Justice of Mershon; two sisters, LaVerne Boatright (husband Terry) of Bristol and Teresa Sinclair (husband Lon) of Mershon; a sister-in-law, Sharon Anderson of Nicholls; five grandchildren, Phillip Horne, Dyona Horne, Joseph Oliver, Tiffany Jordan, Timothy Courson; several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association (Post Office Box 11454 – Alexandria, Virginia 22312) or to the Southeast Cancer Unit (401 Pendleton Street – Waycross, Georgia 31501).
Visitation:
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 o'clock Friday evening (December 31, 2010) at the funeral home.
Service:
The funeral for Mrs. Jackson will be held 11:00 o'clock Saturday morning (January 1, 2010) at Bristol Baptist Church.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Bristol Cemetery.
