Mrs. Alethia "Suggie" Pendergrass Morant, age 80, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at the residence of her niece, Betty Mikell, under hospice care. She was a member of Bessenger Tabernacle Baptist Church and a member of the church choir. She retired from Vandy's Barbecue in Statesboro. She is preceded in death by her parents, Monday and Mattie Mae Pendergrass; and husband, James Hubert Morant.
She leaves to cherish her memories an aunt, Mrs. Katie Moffett of Savannah, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eva Pendergrass of Albany, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Mr. Robert Pendergrass and Mrs. Janie Perry, both of Statesboro, Ga., Mrs. ArJean Holland and Mrs. Betty Jean Mikell, both of Brooklet, Ga., Mr. Kelly Pendergrass and Mr. Roderick Daniels, both of Albany, Ga., Mrs. Ronika Daniels of Kentucky, Mr. Carlos Grant of South Carolina, Mr. Fred Williams of Kansas, Mrs. Shirley Shimoyame of Philadelphia, Mr. Calvin Young of West Palm Beach, Fla., Bernard Walker of Winder, Ga., Mrs. Wanda Scott of Manhattan; and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1579 Bragan Road, Denmark, with the Rev. Paul Benton as eulogist. Interment will be held in the church cemetery. Craig R. Tremble Funeral Home.
