Mary (Polly) King (1889-1888) was married to Abel Baldwin (date unknown) probably in Essex, NY. She is the mother of Henry Clay Baldwin (also born in Essex) 1828-1887. She is buried in the Whallons Bay Cemetery near Essex, New York.
I am Ann Baldwin Cairns and she was my third great grandmother.
There were a number of Abel Baldwins in that time frame and they seemed to have a tendency to marry Mary/Pollys.
Abel Baldwin was an early pioneer and farmer in Fillmore County, MN. He was born in New Hampshire and farmed until 1856 in Essex, New York. He left that farm to his eldest son, Philip, when he headed west.
Mary (Polly) King (1889-1888) was married to Abel Baldwin (date unknown) probably in New Hampshire, she is the mother of his two eldest sons, Philip and Frederick. Polly remained in New York with her eldest son until her death at the age of 98. She is buried in the Baldwin Cemetery in Essex, NY.
Abel's younger children, Henry Clay, Emma, Josephine, Eliza and Zachariah are from his partnership with Catherine Person (1812-?) who accompanied him to Minnesota and remained with him until his death. (Information clarified July 2015 by a recorded will available at the Fillmore County - History Center & Genealogy Library in Fountain, Minnesota.) Information submitted by Ann Baldwin Cairns: Abel and Catherine are my 3rd great grandparents.
