CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Michael James Savoie, 49, who passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "J'Irai La Voir Un Jour", "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art".
Mr. Savoie was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Savoie was employed with Ace Transportation. He was a member of the Harley Davidson Owners Group, past member of various trail riders associations and enjoyed being with people.
Survivors include three daughters, Brandy Welch and her husband, Doug, of Carencro, Joddie McGee and her husband, Christopher, of Lafayette, and Brook Richard and her husband, Shanon, of Duson; his father and step-mother, Bennett and Earline Savoie, of Lafayette; his maternal grandmother, Mable H. Babineaux, of Carencro; one brother, Robert Lee Savoie, of Scott; two sisters, Gwen Miller and her husband, Troy, of Milton, and Davie Ann Cox and her husband, John, of Carencro; two grandchildren, Madysen Richard and Macy Welch; one aunt, Vickie Smith and her husband, Richard, of Carencro; and his companion, Mayrella Granger, of Carencro.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Domingue Savoie; his mother, Cecile Babineaux; and his godfather, Carroll Babineaux.
Pallbearers will be Chris Guidry, James Wiggins, John Cox, Billy Hebert, Wayne Meche and Robert Savoie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shanon Richard, Chris McGee, Doug Welch, Jamison Duhon, Dillon Dugas, Darren Dugas, Devin Dugas, Kyle Delahoussaye, Richard Smith and all of his friends.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 N. University Ave. was in charge of arrangements.
