Elizabeth Pexton Stuart, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 3:40 p.m. at Oak Terrace. She was born November 1, 1919 in Harlan, IA and attended Grinnell College. She transferred to the University of Michigan, where she met and married Robert A. Stuart of Sheridan, WY. He preceded her in death in January of 1988 after 49 years of marriage.
Betty Stuart was active in Chapter B.F., PEO; Grateful Daughters Kings Daughters; Book Review Club; Book Reading Club; The Carillon Belles; the Springfield Art Association; Symphony Guild; Junior League; Springfield Lawyers Wives; the Sangamo Club; the National Recreation Foundation; Sangamon State University Foundation; the American Red Cross; and Christ Episcopal Church.
Surviving are two daughters; son; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
