Samuel Erastus George Sr. son of Matthew & Sarah Ann George, was born Oct. 17, 1847 Ralls Co., MO, married on Nov. 14, 1873 at Bloomfield OH to Mary Edwards born March 27, 1851 Bloomfield OH. Samuel died Feb. 23, 1923 Manhattan, KS, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Estella Phillis. his age 75 years, 4 months and 6 days.
Mary died Dec. 11, 1916 Belvue, KS.

Eleven Children were born to this union, two dying in infancy.
He is survived by nine children; Mrs. Nettie Bellman, Silver Lake, KS, Mrs. Mae Heston, St Marys, Ks, Mrs. Ethelinda Heston, Belvue, KS, John E. George, Green Court, Alberta, Canada, Ernest W. George, Westmoreland, KS, Sam and Mrs. Minerva Amiss, Wamego, KS, Benjamin M. George, Wabaunsee, KS, Mrs. Estella Phillis, Manhattan, KS.
Fifty-one grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, also three brothers and five sisters; Marion, Soldier, KS, Edward and David and Mrs. Emma Easterly, all of Oklahoma. Mrs. Ella Martz, Ottumwa, Iowa, Mrs. Eliza Risher, Mrs. Jane Risher, and Mrs. Nide Heath, all of Rossville, KS.
Funeral services ere conducted Sunday, February 25, by Rev. J. W. Tanner, at the Vermillion church, after which burial was made in the Polly Creek cemetery.
