COFFEY, AVERY E. - age 85, passed away suddenly at Jefferson Memorial Hospital on Saturday September 7, 2002. He was a faithful member of Avondale Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Randy Myers. Survivors include wife of 64 years, Mary Spires Coffey; son, Richard A. Coffey of Belleville, Mich.; daughters and sons in law, Norma Ruth Myers and Lawrence Myers of Talbott, and Rhonda Whitt and Bascom of Rutledge; grandchildren, Joe and Pamela Baker of Knoxville, Christopher and April Myers of Jefferson City, Jennifer and Michael L. Whitt of Rutledge; great grandchildren, Corey, Amanda, Ashley and Benjamin Baker of Knoxville, Peyton Myers of Jefferson City; great-great grandchild, Tyler Baker; sisters and brother in law, Barshie Davis and Dan of Corryton and Addie Walker of Mascot; several nieces and nephew and friends of the family. Funeral services will be on Tuesday September 10, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Avondale Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Buell and Rev. J.C. Morgan will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Avondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday September 9, 2002 at the Smith Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge in charge of arrangements for Avery Coffey.
