"'Leaves have their time to fall, and flowers to wither at the north wind's breath, but thou, O death, hast all reasons for thine own.' Willard Burton died at his home in Sloansville, Dec. 5, 1930, after a long illness. He was born in the town of Carlisle, July 20, 1860, on the farm now owned and occupied by Menzo Dibble, the son of Hilts and Mary Osterhout Burton. His father died when he was a small boy, after which his mother moved to Cobleskill. While a young man he learned the trade of wagon maker, but gave that up for farming. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Helen Gordon who survives him. He was a member of the Christian church at Charleston Four Corners for many years. The funeral services were held Sunday in the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. J. L. Deusler, assisted by Rev. John A. Dillon of Charleston Four Corners. Text, Matthew 6-8, 'Your father knoweth.'
