James Murphy, an old and highly respected resident of Plymouth Township, died yesterday afternoon of paralysis.
James was born on October in 1827, in Ireland, he resided in Old Monkland, Glasgow, Scotland in 1851 with his parents Felix Murphy and Bridget McGinley Murphy.
James emigrated to the U.S. in 1860 or earlier, and settled in Larksville, PA. He met his wife in Luzerne County and married her she was a widow with children, they had children together.
Deceased was 58 years (my research finds him to be actually age 73, 15 years older than was published in the newspaper. The Murphy's and Cassidy seem to have themselves listed as younger then their actual age for some reason) of age and is survived by his wife Bridget and four children; Frank, Thomas, Katie and Maggie.
The funeral will take place to-morrow morning with a requiem high mass at St. Vincent's Church, Plymouth, at 10 o'clock.
Burial:
The funeral of James Murphy occurred yesterday morning. The cortege was a lengthy one and the floral offerings beautiful and numerous. A requiem high mass was celebrated at St. Vincent's Church at 10 o'clock by Rev. D. W. McCarthy. The pall bearers were Edward Murphy, John St. John, William Cassidy, and John Cassidy, James Monahan and John Weida.
Interment will be in the Welsh Hill Cemetery.
