Producer, Director, Cartoonist. He began his career in the 1940s as one of the cartoon artists for the news strip series "Andy Gump" and "Joe Palooka". In the 1950s, he had his own strip, "Blade Winter" in the New York Post and also drew the "Dixie Dugan" cartoon. He was a co-founder of the original Circle in the Square Theater in New York, and in 1983, he produced the Broadway play "Amen Corner". As a film director, his credits include "Hallucination Generation" (1966), "Who Says I Can't Ride a Rainbow" (1971), "Hot Pants Holiday" (1972), and "Hooch" (1977). He also was a screenwriter for several films. He died of Parkinson's disease in Los Angeles, California, at age 72.
