Ethel Barnes, 87, of Belvidere, New Jersey passes away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.

Ethel was born on August 8, 1924 in Sparta, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.D. and Bessie ( nee Crouse) Burd.

She was an attendant at the Washington Laundromat for many years.. She loved to read and spending time with her family.

She is predeceased by her loving husband John Wesley Barnes in 1978.

She is survived by a son, John W. Barnes Jr. and Marian of Piscataway, NJ, three daughters, Jean Barnes of Annadale, NJ, Joan Templeton and husband Frank of Elkart, ID, Robin Madsen and husband Paul of Washington NJ, a sister Ruth Sliker of Andover NJ, eighteen grandchildren, twenty eight great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

She is also predeceased by two daughters, Marilyn and Rosanne, a brother Roy Burd, and a sister Frances.

A visitation will be held on Sunday April 1st from 5-8pm at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will be Monday at 11am in the funeral home. A burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ.
