Roy Bucy was the second son of William Burton and Almeda Bell Wilson Bucy. He adored his older brother Harry. Roy moved his young family to Indianapolis in the 1930's to work as a glass blower at Fairmount Glass in Indianapolis. At one time he was appointed Market Master at the Indianapolis City Market. He was the head of the local glassblowers union and his children remember many parties he organized for union members and their families--especially at Christmas, when each child would receive a present. Roy could play the piano by ear and knew the Bible 'backwards and forwards.' He was a lay preacher, known for his fiery sermons, and when his children were young would fill in at churches in the Terre Haute area. He died of emphysema, thought to be caused by his years in the glass factory, at the age of 69.
