Eldred graduated from Stratton High School in 1947. On Dec. 21, 1947, she married Bob B. Cobb in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They made their home in Stratton, Nebraska where Eldred was a busy mother and homemaker. She also worked as a lab and X-ray technician at the Stratton Clinic. She very much loved and was dedicated to her late husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Among her many hobbies, she greatly enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, and tole painting. She and her late husband enjoyed their craft shop that they named "The Cobbler Shoppe." She made a variety of crafts and especially enjoyed designing sweatshirts, all of which she sold at craft fairs. She loved music and played the piano.
Eldred was a member of the Christian Union Church in Stratton, which she attended until she became a resident of McCook.
Preceding her in death were her husband Bob Cobb on Sept. 24, 2000; her parents, Ralph and Nellie Carpenter; and sisters, Gwen Egle and Arlene Orr.
Survivors are: sons, Norman Cobb and wife, Glenna of York, Nebraska, Dallas Cobb and wife, Diane of McCook, and Wesley Cobb and wife, Dixie of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Lorie and husband, Dick Golding of South Fork, Colorado; brother, Doyle Carpenter of Fort Wayne, Indiana; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
