GREENSBORO — Mrs. Edna Florence Carter Allred, 87, a resident of the Golden Living Center on Carolina St., died Wednesday morning December 15, 2010. Mrs. Allred was born April 12, 1923 in Rockingham Co., a daughter of Moses and Mandie Reid Carter. She graduated from Bethany High School in the Bethany Community. Mrs. Allred was retired from Greensboro Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Summerfield Baptist Temple.

On October 9, 1940 she was married to John Robert Allred who preceded her in death on January 16, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Dennis McCustion; a sister, Geneva Laster and her brother, Bob Carter.

Surviving are two daughters, Bobbie Jean Long and husband Gray of Greensboro, Betty Middleton of Stokesdale; two sisters, Sallie Shelton of Stokesdale, Fannie Reid of Mayodan; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407 conducted by Pastor Mike Marshall. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
