She was born and raised in Patterson, and graduated from Patterson High School in 1994. During her time at PHS, she kept score for the wrestling and baseball teams, was involved in the Mundo Latino Club and the 11th annual Hispanic Education Conference, and attended Sacred Heart Church. At Modesto Junior College, she was involved in several student organizations, and was a regular Delta Blood Bank donor. At the time of her death she was slated to play the part of "Juanita" in a Cinco de Mayo play at MJC. She wanted to become a kindergarten teacher.
She was the daughter of Santos Garcia and Arnulfo D. Garcia, and the granddaughter of Jesus Garcia and Catarina Garcia. She was also survived by one brother and two sisters.
