Joseph G. Slanger, a resident of New York Mills for the past 20 years, died in his 64th year at Faxton Hospital at 6 o'clock this morning. He had been ill one week with appendicitis. He was born in Holland February 26, 1862 and came to this country 40 years ago. For 20 years he lived in different parts of Indiana. He was the son of Garrett Slanger and had been employed as seamster for many years by the New York Mills Corporation. Mr. Slanger was a member of the Wolcott Memorial Presbyterian Church. Surviving are the grieving brothers and sisters; Mrs. A.J. Penning, Orange City Iowa, Henry of Gary Indiana, John and Garrett who live in Montana, John, Matthew, Fred, and Jessie who live in Grand Rapids Michigan

The funeral of Joseph Slanger was held this afternoon from the home of Garrett Van Dyke, 116 Kossuth Ave. at 1:00 o'clock and from the Wolcott Memorial Presbyterian Church at Yorkville at 2:30. The Reverend C.A. Wagner officiated. During the services, appropriate solo's was sung by Robert Healy. Floral tributes were sent by the yard department of New York Mills Corporation and the trustees of the Wolcott Memorial Presbyterian Church. The bearers were Klaas Weater, Ralph Kroll, Frank Kipera, and Joseph Tylman. Interment was in the family plot at Glenside cemetery.
