Pastor Nancye Neathery Halm, 78, of Bentonville, Va., formerly of New York, died on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Lynn Care Center in Front Royal, Va.
Mrs. Halm was born March 26, 1932, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Thomas Howerton Neathery and Margaret Hazel Leroy Neathery.
She retired as a United Methodist minister. Mrs. Halm was the wife of the late James Halm.
She retired as the Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Ellington, N.Y., in 2007. The central focus of her life was her faith and the care and education of her children. She also dedicated herself to the education of other people's children as an elementary school teacher and later as the administrator of a Christian Academy in New Castle, Pa. At the age of 70, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a minister and felt blessed that she could serve the Lord in that capacity. She was also honored to work with the Ellington United Methodist Church members to help preserve the Food Pantry Out Reach program that benefitted the people of Ellington and the surrounding area.
During the last few years of her life, she committed herself full-time to the care of her parents because she was, above all else, dedicated to the comfort of and care of those she loved best.
Surviving are two daughters: Jennifer Hill and husband, Paul of Bentonville. and Beth Mack and husband, Frank Ammons of Harpers Ferry, W.Va; two sons: Geoffrey Mack and wife, Kathy of Manassas and Peter Mack and wife, Penny of Oceanside, N.Y.; one brother, Thomas Neathery and his wife, Sally of Laxahchee, Fla; and six grandchildren: Jarred Hill, Kayla Mack-Ammons, Corbin Mack, Thomas Mack, David E.
