Mrs. Newman was born on Oct. 6, 1944, in Lebanon. She was the daughter of the late Paul Brown and Retha Louise (Scott) Brown Dale.
She married Jack Lee Newman on Dec. 31, 1971, in Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. Newman survives.
Mrs. Newman spent most of her life in Lebanon, with the exception of several short periods spent in Las Vegas. For 22 years, she was an assistant supervisor in laundry and housekeeping at the Meadows in Zionsville. She retired on June 15, 2009, due to her health.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family and traveling.
Mrs. Newman was a member of Grace Community International Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include her husband, Jack L. Newman of Lebanon; four children, Randy Joe Newman of Indianapolis, Rick Stockton of New Market, Gary Stockton of Indianapolis and Ann ette Merritt of Frankfort; brothers, Douglas P. Brown and wife, Juanita, of Thornton, Colo., Orville D. "O.D." Dale and wife, Cecile, of West Lafayette and Larry E. Dale of Iowa; sister, Wanda Shanklin and husband, Clarence, of Lebanon; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by stepfather, Orville Dale.
