"Funeral services are being held at Spokane this afternoon for Ludwig Doering, 65, for 46 years a resident of the Big Bend area. Burial is in Riverside Park Cemetery. The Rev L Meyer officiated. Born in SD, Mr Doering came to Ritzville in 1900, a youth of 20. The following year, after he became of legal age, he homesteaded near Odessa, and in 1902 was married to Daisy Reiman. He continued his residence in the Odessa area for 28 years. He moved with his family to Rocklyn in 1929, where he farmed for 12 years, moving to Reardan in 1941 to retire, living there until his death. On the evening of his death, seemingly in good health, he and Mrs Doering had visitors and after their departure had retired. He left his bed to get a heating pad for his wife, and shortly after returning there death claimed him. Survivors include his widow, Daisy, three children, Mrs Harold Ytreede, Spokane; Raymond Doering, on the Rocklyn ranch; Herbert Doering, Spokane, and 4 grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, John, Odessa; Chris C, Kennewick; and Sol, Hillyard; three sisters, Mrs John Schultz, Quincy; Mrs Henry Melcher, Portland; Mrs Amanda Martin, Beckley, WV."
