Louis Erwin Beall, Jr. was the son of Louis Erwin Beall and Harriet Morgan Clark Beall. He was a leader and a well respected youth who was in the 1907 Senior Class at Princeton. He and fellow students were out on the Delaware River in canoes when the canoe he was traveling upset after passing through a bad stretch of water called the 'Foul Rift'. Beall was trying to save his friends, but drowned in the attempt.
