SAMUEL N. ALLEN SUCCUMBS AT 73
Samuel N. Allen, 73, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert McGuire, 1191 Millville Ave., Wednesday, 4 a.m. He had not been in the best of health for the last year since he had suffered a heart attack.
He was born in Laurel County, Ky., Oct. 3, 1878, the son of William and Catherine Patton Allen, and had lived in Hamilton 40 years. He married Nettie Phillips in Kentucky and she preceded him in death 20 years ago.
Three years ago he married Angie Parker in Kentucky.
He was employed at the Champion Paper and Fibre Company 35 years. At the time of his retirement five years ago, he was foreman for the reel department. He enjoyed the companionship of his fellow workers and was affectionately known as "Pop" by his co-workers.
Hunting and fishing and all outdoor sports were his favorite outside diversion,
He leaves the widow, Mrs. Angie Allen, Mershons, Ky.; four daughters, Miss Amy Allen, Mrs. L.H. Graves (Marie), Mrs. Duane Weed (Ruth), Mrs. Duane Weed (Fay), all of Hamilton; one son, Jesse M. Allen; five grandchildren; many other relatives, and a wide circle of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 2:30 p.m. from the Elmer A. Proeschel Funeral Home, 547 Main St., with the Rev. Louis F. Ferry of the Symmes Corner Mission officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood. Visitation in the funeral home will be Thursday after 4 p.m.
