C. W. Rost Dies at Son's Home; Funeral Here

Funeral services for C. W. Rost, who died last Wednesday [June 19, 1929] at Grand Rapids, Minn., were held Saturday afternoon at the Mahlum and Anderson mortuary with the Rev. F. Yearnd, pastor of the Baptist church in charge. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

About two weeks ago, Mr. Rost went to the home of his son in Minnesota. After arriving there his condition became serious and he was taken to the hospital at Grand Rapids, where he died.

C. W. Rost was born in Germany in the year 1844. He came to America in 1856 and settled in Wisconsin. In 1870 he was married to Minnie Wagner. To this union 15 children, ten sons and five daughters, were born, nine of whom are living. These are Henry and John of Bovey, Minn., Charles, Willard, Edward, Mrs. E. J. Ketchum, and Mrs. Roy Coggin [Goggin] of Estherville, Mrs. Leon Shaw of California, and Mrs. Henry Shreeves of Montana.

Mrs. Rost preceded her husband in death about 18 years ago. Besides his children, his death is mourned by two brothers, Robert of Doylestown, Ark., and Albert of Lakefield, Minn., and several other relatives and friends. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, June 27, 1929)
