MAURINE MILLER, age 82, passed away peacefully Sunday morning December 5, 2010. Maurine was born March 22, 1928 in Stamps, Arkansas and had been a resident of Alvin, Texas since 1945. She was married for 58 years to the love of her life Wesley Miller, whom she married September 1, 1946. Maurine loved to cook and spent her working years preparing meals for the Alvin Independent School District, as well as, various restaurants here in Alvin. During her retirement, she lovingly took care of her immediate and extended family baking countless sugar cookies for them all. Maurine took great pride in her yard and loved tending to her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her husband Wesley Miller, parents Earl Marshall and Annie Mae Dotson, brother Jimmy Dotson, and nephew Danny Rhodes.

Maurine is survived by her daughter Darlene Childress; grandchildren Chris Childress, Candice Mclean and husband Cory; great-grandchildren Nicole and Haley Childress, Cameron, Cayla, and Courtney Mclean; sisters Bobbie Baker and husband Richard "Slick" and Imogene Rhodes and husband Dusty; nieces Cheryl Knape and husband Gregg, Cindy Flora and husband Donavan, Diana Tahtinen and husband Gunnard; nephews Dennis Rhodes and wife Connie, David Rhodes and wife Lynette, Dwayne Rhodes and wife Terrie, Wade Baker and wife Tammi; great-nieces Lacy, Lisa, Casey, Mona, and Jenna Rhodes, Shane Baker, Misty Flora, Starla Tahtinen; great-nephews Aaron Knape and wife Christina, Ryan Knape and wife Mackenzie, Donny Flora, Devon and Nicholas Tahtinen; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday December 7, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home in Alvin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Scott Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Snow and The Revd. Joseph E. Summerville III officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. Arrangements under the direction of Scott Funeral Home, 1421 East Hwy. 6 Alvin, Texas (281) 585-1000.
