Died 6:30 a.m. Friday, March 19, 1993, in Doctor's Hospital. He was a native of Batchler and a resident of Metairie for the past 33 years. He was a retired construction superintendent in New Orleans and Donaldsonville, after 31 years with Shell Oil Company. He was veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army attached to the Air Force. Funeral services at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home, Opelousas, at 11 a.m. Monday. Survived by wife, Morena "Nin" Laborde Lafield, Metairie; a son, Eugene "Gene" Lafield,Baton Rouge; a sister, Mary Alice Ellis, Baker; and four nephews. Prior to his work with Shell Oil Company, he worked as a civil engineer with the Department of Public Works in Maringouin. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0401, Veteran's of the Foreign War Post 15019, A.A.R.P. and Woodmen of the World Camp in New Roads. Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home, Old Sunset Highway, Opelousas, in charge of arrangements.
