US Senator, Oklahoma Governor. Served during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. Served as Governor of Oklahoma from 1959 to 1963, when he resigned to accept the appointment to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Robert S. Kerr. Served in the Senate from 1963 to 1964, but not nominated for re-election to the seat. He was the younger brother of Oklahoma Congressman and Senator Edmond Augustus Edmondson.
