DEATH OF MRS. EARNEST CONNER
With deep regret we chronicle the death of Mrs. Earnest Conner, which occurred at her home in southeast Chariton on Sunday, July 21, 1929, at the age of 41 years, two months and three days, after an extended illness with tuberculosis.
She had been confined to her bed for five weeks and had suffered intensely. Everything that loving hands and medical skill could do to restore her to health was done, but to no avail.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Archie Beals, of Russell, were held at the First Baptist church in this city on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, followed by interment in the Chariton cemetery.
Belle Wingate was born in Chariton, Iowa, on April 18, 1888, and practically all of her life was spent in our midst. She was married here on October 6, 1905, to Earnest E. Conner, who survives her. To them were born four children, all of whom are living. They are William, Marion, Nell and Mary.
Besides her husband and children she is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Jennie Schrum, of Chariton, and by one sister, Mrs. Jessie Keller, of St. Paul, Minn., and two half sisters, Mrs. Josephine Phillips, of Russell, and Miss Daisy Schrum, of this city.
When quite young she was converted and united with the United Presbyterian church, of which she remained a member until that organization was disbanded a few years ago.
She was a good woman, a devoted wife and mother, and possessed many lovable characteristics which won for her many friends. Her passing away has brought sadness to many hearts and the bereaved ones will have the sympathy of many friends.
