Hilbert did not learn to read until the late 60's, early 70's. He taught himself how to read and write by watching Sesame Street. After learning how he could not get enough to read.
He was a very kind and humble man. There was not anything he would not do to help someone. A place to stay, food, and/or money, it was yours. No questions asked.. He never wanted anything back from the person either.
This man had a passion for cooking. He made moist tender, flaky biscuits better than most women. Something, I have never mastered.
Hilbert always had a great outlook on life. He touched many people and made lots of friends throughout his life He is missed by many..
