A telegram from Chicago Monday morning brought the unwelcome news of the death of Andrew Wilson. He succumbed to the effects of the surgical operation. He had grown too weak to rally from it and slept peacefully away. The body was brought to Traer Monday by his mother, who was with him in his last days. The funeral was at Tranquility Wednesday afternoon conducted by Dr. Bailey and the attendance was very large. The deceased was 21 years old. He was the son of Mrs. Peter Wilson and a young man of the highest character. Several years ago, he became afflicted with rheumatism and the trouble increased until some of the bones and joints became diseased. It was for the removal of a dead bone that the operation was attempted which resulted in his death. The Wilson family have the sympathy of north Tama to an unusual degree in this affliction.

Gravesite Details

While I was unable to find census documentation of a relationship between Andrew and the Wilsons, I linked him to this family by virtue of the stone similarity and his proximity to the group. Update-Phyllis Zegers found the link in the 1885 census.
