Mrs. Billingsley was born May 20, 1916 to James Morgan Ross, Sr. and Kate Barron Ross. She was born in the house where she lived her entire life in Clinton. Her maternal grandparents were Ida Bradley Barron and William Wiley Barron, Sr. and her paternal grandparents were Fannie E. Morgan Ross and Roland Thomas Ross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Clay Billingsley; her parents; sister, Elizabeth Ross Sherrod; and two brothers, Roland Thomas Ross and James M. Ross, Jr.
She was an honor graduate and last surviving member of the 1933 class of Gray High School. She then attended Georgia Alabama Business College and completed a steno-bookkeeping course.
In 1938 she was employed with the Department of Labor and retired as Manager of the Macon Claims Center in 1981 with 43 years of service. She has been an active and dedicated member of Clinton United Methodist Church since 1933 and Treasurer for over 60 years. She was Past Matron and 50 year member of Friendship Court #9, Order of the Amaranth, Past Queen and 50 year member of Ha Hisla Temple #122 in Atlanta, Past Regent of Oliver Morton Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, and charter member of the Pilot Club of Jones County.
Mrs. Billingsley is survived by her brother, Ben Barron Ross (Mobley) of Lincolnton, GA; nephews, Roland T. Ross, Jr. of Clinton, and William Wayne Ross (Norma) of Macon; Niece, Kate Ross Williams (Tommy) of Gray; and great nieces and nephews, Julie Califf, Tom Ross, Mark T. Ross (Dianne), Leigh Ross Swicord (Trent), and Sherry W. Olivier (Joey); and numerous great great nieces and nephews.
