John was the son of Daniel and Grace Loudfoot who were born in Scotland. John married Frances (Fan) Hepworth. They lived in Philadelphia. In 1908 he worked in the waste business/rag business (collecting and selling material (wool/cotton) to be re-used). Her father owned a wool waste factory. In 1818 he worked for Prudential Insurance. He died suddenly during the 1920 flu epidemic. He and Fan had a daughter, Ruth (Loudfoot) Gelbrich. Fan moved to Oregon where she died.
