Marion T. Bowen, or "Pete," as he was known to family and friends, was born February 3, 1921 in Provencal, Louisiana, the son of Samuel and Jennie (Walters) Bowen. He passed away Saturday evening, August 9, 2008 in the Harper Hospital at the age 87.
On May 22, 1945, Pete was united in marriage with Vivian Strong at Natchitoches, Louisiana and to this union six children were born: Kenneth, Kerry, Stan, Trudy, Mark, and Mickey.
The family made their home in Louisiana where Pete worked as an oil and gas operator for Occidental. In 1963 they came to Satanta, Kansas and lived for ten years before coming to Harper in 1973.
In recent years, Pete had moved into Country Living at Anthony and made his home there about two years until making his home in the Anthony Community Care Center.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian June 4, 2003; two grandsons: Dustin Pfannenstiel and Derek Bowen; one great granddaughter, Rhylee Shawn Harding; and three brothers: Samuel, Charles, and James Bowen.
He will be missed by his children: Kenneth Bowen and his wife, Thelma of San Antonio, TX, Kerry Bowen and his wife, Pam of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Stan Bowen and his wife, Kay of Goddard, KS, Trudy Fields and her husband, Mike, Mark Bowen and his wife, Kim, and Mickey Bowen all of Harper; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Agatha Bowen of Dallas, Texas; other relatives and friends
