George was the son of William & Harriet (Mellor) Hepworth. Mallinson was his father's mother, Hannah (Mallinson) Hepworth's, maiden name. He was born in Philadelphia. He worked in his father's business and later became president of William Hepworth & Sons, a wool business. He married Mary Bartles. They had two children: Dorothy born 1910 and George William Hepworth 1916. When George retired his son, George, took over the business. George and Mary moved to St. Petersburg, FL (354 16th Ave. N.) where several other family members were living.
