Albert filed on a homestead west of Midland on Bad River. He also worked as a ranch hand and for a number of years rode in the Tom Jones' roundup. Albert succumbed to a tragic death on Christmas Day of 1935. He had left Midland about dusk Christmas Eve to go to the home of his sister, Mrs. C. L. Myrland, where he was to spend Christmas. On the way driving across a pasture his car stalled in the snow in a ditch and he started walking. He was found Christmas morning unconscious and rushed to the hospital in Pierre, where he died.
